Climate Change and the Church

Catholics in the Conservative Party and the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) are jointly hosting a briefing with Bishop John Arnold on the Catholic Church’s response to climate change.

The event is an opportunity for those attending Conservative Party Conference to discuss the Church’s response to climate change in the run up to the COP26 summit in Glasgow later this year.

The Rt Revd John Arnold is the Bishop of Salford. He is also Environmental Lead for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, and Chair of CAFOD - the Catholic Church's aid and development agency.

Bishop John will speak on:

  • What recent encyclicals Laudato Si and Fratelli Tutti say about environment and climate
  • Why the Church takes COP26 so seriously
  • The interfaith statement to government leaders that will be drafted in the Vatican ahead of COP26

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

This event is free.

Please register at our Eventbrite page.
ABOUT US

Catholics in the Conservative Party aims to support Catholic party members, encourage laity to become more involved in politics and public life, and to foster Conservative political action amongst the millions of Catholics in the United Kingdom.

Working with CCHQ, the Conservative Christian Fellowship, and other groups, we have ten parliamentary patrons and run a series of events such as this.

ABOUT CAFOD

CAFOD is the official development agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, reaching out to people living in poverty with practical help, whatever their religion or culture.

CAFOD are part of the global Caritas Internationalis network, through which they have the potential to reach the most isolated and marginalised communities.

They also campaign and influence so that every woman, man, and child can live a full and dignified life.
